The Smart Contractor

Your are a contractor requiring to cover completely a floor measuring 1000 cm by 440 cm, with identical square tiles with length that is a whole number.

·         What is the side of the largest possible square tile?
·         How many such tiles do you need if you use the largest possible square tiles?

  2. A)40, because the HCF of 1000 and 440 is 40
    B)275, because 1000 divided by 40 is 25, and 440 divided by 40 is 11, and 25 times 11 is 275.
